There are just a couple days left of the school year but Smyser artists remain busy! 3rd grade students finished Springtime Mosaics, and 4-5th graders are exploring the art of Cartography and Map Making! 6th Grade students reflected back on the semester discussing ways to improve their art experience for next year and also select students participated in a fun-packed Art field trip to the Art Institute of Chicago and Millenium Park.
7th and 8th grade students finished up their last projects including Artist Cards, Op Art designs, and weavings.
The Smyser Spring Arts Festival was held two weeks ago and turnout for the Smyser Art Gallery Exhibit was spectacular! All 3rd-8th grade Art students were featured in a large gallery showing that took over the 1st floor of the Main Building. If you missed it this time, make sure to come explore the art gallery next semester!! Also, the Upper Grade Specials Showcase was held last week during Thursday afternoon. Students were able to participate in a gallery walkthrough and view the projects produced this semester.
All in all, this year has been amazing! I will miss my students over the summer. I also anticipate an even more successful school year in 2013-14!
SUMMER TIP FROM MS. LEE: Students, be sure to keep your minds sharp and active over your summer break. Engage in activities that will help you prepare for next year. Keep up with your own independent art projects, try something new and challenging, read!, and stay healthy.
See you in August!
